![]() The new Calgary Wind Symphony has an unforgettable year of music for you to enjoy and savor. In our 56th year the old Calgary Concert Band has evolved. The Calgary Wind Symphony is our new name, reflecting rare and innovative programming, a mix of the old and the new. This name change is brimming with musical fireworks in our 56th season. In 2012-2013, we have programmed an unprecedented three Canadian Premiere performances. A World Premiere, Michael Daugherty's Le Tombeau de Liberace will be performed for the first time in a new wind version on December 2, 2012. American composer Henry Cowell's Festive Occasion will be performed for the second time ever in a Canadian premiere performance on June 2, 2013. Henry Cowell family lived in Calgary in the 1890s, so this is a homecoming! Please take a few moments to peruse our program. It is totally out of the ordinary, and well worth the trip. Sincerely, ![]() Jeremy Brown |
All our Concerts are held at the Eckhardt-Gramatte Hall, Rozsa Centre - University of Calgary.
