Earl Paddock has taught with the Calgary Board of Education since 1977. He has been teaching since 1991 at William Aberhart High School where his responsibilities include teaching the band classes and directing the Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. During this time the Aberhart bands have received constant recognition for their outstanding performances at local and international concerts and festivals.
Earl received his Bachelor of Music (1976) from the University of Calgary and his Master of Music Education (1991) from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He has been awarded a Government of Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award, the David Peterkin Memorial Award from the Alberta chapter of the International Band Masters Fraternity Phi Beta Mu in recognition of outstanding contributions to Band and Band Music in Alberta. In 2007 Earl was awarded the "Elkhorn Award" from the Alberta Band Association. This award is given to the "Band Director of the Year" who has exhibited outstanding service not only to music students but also to the Alberta Band Association.
Earl is also the Executive Director of the Calgary Stetson Show Band and he co-directs the Westwinds Music Society Green Band. He is a past president of the Alberta Band Association and is active as a guest conductor, adjudicator and clinician.
